Daoud Bacha


  • 600g ground mutton (you could use hamburger meat instead)
  • 2 cans of tomato sauce/ 1 kg fresh tomatoes
  • A proper quantity of cooked white rice
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 50g pine kernels
  • 2 tbsp butter or vegetable oil


Step 1

Finely chop the onions.

Step 2

Mix chopped onions with meat and season them with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Mix them well and make balls in the size of a nut.

Step 4

Dig each ball with your finger and stuff in a few pine kernels in then close it.

Step 5

Brown the balls in half of the butter and place them in a greased baking dish.

Step 6

Cover with tomato sauce (if it’s canned tomato then dilute it with 1 and a 1/2 glass of water).

Step 7

Cook for about 25 minutes at medium high heat.

Step 8

Turn each one of the balls over after half time.

Step 9

Serve hot on white rice.
