Viennese Hot Chocolate



  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly brewed strong coffee or espresso


Step 1

Combine the sugar and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan.

Step 2

Pour about half cup or enough milk to moisten the dry mixture, while stirring constantly.

Step 3

When well blended, whisk in the remaining milk and the coffee.

Step 4

Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture steams, do not boil.

Step 5

Pour and serve.
